This is a fantastic course with lots of aid station support. 6:30-Half and 20 Miler, 7:00-5k ($15 & $25 & $30) Prices increase by $5 three weeks before, and the Thursday before event date.
Course Description:
For
2008 we have added a 20 mile option for those of you that would like a
longer run. The start will be just west of Veyo, Utah on the Gunlock
Scenic Byway. From here you will continue south to the town of Gunlock.
On this 7 mile stretch you will encounter two steep down hills, and
rolling terrain with three aid-stations.
Gunlock
is also the start of the ½ marathon. From Gunlock you will continue up
to the Gunlock Reservoir. Once you reach the dam, which is a short,
steep down hill, there will be another aid-station. From the bottom of
the dam the course will continue with rolling terrain to Old Hwy 91.
This distance is approximately 6.5 miles in which you will pass 4 more
aid-stations. From the intersection of Old Hwy 91 and the Gunlock
Scenic Byway you will continue southeast, or left on Old Hwy 91 heading
to Ivins. The next 1.5 miles are slightly rolling terrain until you
cross the bridge (there will be an aid-station near the bridge before
the climb). At this point you have to climb up and out of the canyon to
the Shivwits reservation. This is a stout climb and there will be an
aid-station at the top of the climb. The next 2 miles are somewhat down
hill until you start onto some more rolling terrain in which you will
pass the entrance to Kayenta Subdivision and another aid-station. This
is the turn around point for the 5K which will be coming from the
opposite direction. The next section is rolling terrain with one large
climb at the end. Once at the top of the climb you will turn left onto
400 South. At this intersection there will be one final aid-station.
This last part of the course is flat and you will be able to see the
finish line!
The 5K is an out and back
from the start/finish line. The course is mostly flat except for the
last hill described in the section above, which you will have to
descend and then climb back up. You will have access to aid stations
three times along the course.
Fees: 5K $15, 10K $25, 20 miler $30
